What's Up Wednesday-March 2023

Happy Wednesday Besties. First and foremost I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to send me some kindness based on Friday's post. I really just wanted to document what happened and try to put out to possibly help others struggling with similar health challenges, but lo and behold, you all showered me with such love and support. I really didn't post for attention, I was trying to document and provide future information for others. Everyone has been so kind. The Good Better Best community really is the Best

Oh March, you were so very March. You took me to one of the Best nights of our lives and then put such challenges in front of me healthwise...again. In the middle there was some fun, some food and some binge-watching. Join me as I link up with Shay and Shaeffer and take you along on the wild ride that was March 2023.

What We're Eating This Week

I have a house full of food and no meal plan for this week. We also have away games and nights out. I am giving myself a lot of grace and not pushing myself as I still work to get Better. Some weeks we all need this.

What I'm Reminiscing About

As we finished up the end of the hockey season and head into spring hockey season, I am thinking about how far Hockey Guy has come in this game.

He's in white here

What I'm Loving

I am an itchy skin person and often the ingredients in a lot of product makes me itchier. Recently I was sent Suave body lotion to review and honestly, I love it. I don't think that I have purchased a Suave product since college. I was pleasantly surprised that this lotion is dye an paraben free. I have both the Aloe and Cucumber blend and the Cocoa Shea. Excellent moisture, light pleasant scent and all day moisture.

I needed to refresh my eye colors this month too. I am trying to really limit the colors I am wearing and just pick Better, more neutral colors. The Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eyeshadow in Cobblestone in a great neutral. It is really working with my spring look.

I am all about the spring beauty right now.

What We've Been Up To

If you read my post on Friday, you know that this month has been a little bit of a rollercoaster. The Good parts were so very Good and one of the most fun nights of my life. With the lows, I am doing a lot Better and have a new surgery date for mid-April.

Running Daddy and I also attended the school auction and had a fancy date night. I went with the "big hair, don't care look" or I may have just left the velcro rollers in about 10 minutes too long.

We are transitioning into lacrosse and I always say that I always appreciate hockey in early lacrosse season because there is no wind and no rain at hockey.

Running Daddy and I also went to the school musical to cheer on some of our favorite kids. Wow, there are some talented kids in our school. It has been nice to see some of our friends' kids excel at what they love and we don't often get to do this because we are typically in an ice rink.

What I'm Dreading

It's that time of year when I start walking around the yard and looking at where I need to weed the flower beds and the yard clean up we need to do. The only upside to weeding the yard is that it is instant gratification.

What I'm Working On

The main thing right now, is that I am working on recovering from my infection. This one was a little easier than the last two and I think it is because I insisted on having the surgeon call in an antibiotic right from the hospital.

I am also working on reaching out to my primary care doctor and cardiologist to get their sign-off on the new surgery. I am hoping that they can just do a sign-off letter and that I don't have to have another physical, etc. I am just over the 30 day window with the new date so my original physical and EKG may or may not be sufficient for the new date.

I am also working on helping with the end of the season hockey banquet. This is the first one since before COVID and these kids deserve a nice night. I love working with other organized people who just want to get things done. Our hockey parents are the Best

I am finalizing our Easter menu, a brunch this year, and working on the details for a quick little road trip the few days after Easter.

What I'm Excited About

I am excited about Easter and Holy Week. I really need to take some time and focus on the Easter season. I feel like I am not as focused this Lent as I could be. There is always room for growth in this area and the Lord is always there and waiting for us.

I am excited about our little road trip after Easter. This is a new season in our life and one that we will never get to do again. We just have to enjoy the process and trust that the Lord will guide us.

What I'm Watching

We watched season three of Outer Banks and really enjoyed it. I liked the way they tied up some older storylines and have a base for hopefully season four.

I also finished up The Way Home on Hallmark. This is not the stereotypical Hallmark story that everyone thinks Hallmark is. No formula that many think it is. It is so well-acted and there is so much depth to these characters. I am going to need to watch the finale again.

Sunday night I caught the first episode of Ride on Hallmark. It's very visually pretty and the only way I can describe it is a kindler, gentler version of Yellowstone. I am looking forward to this new show.

For older shows, when I was sick I binged the first season of Hart of Dixie that I had never watched before. My friend told me that I would like it and I am enjoying it. Plus my Hallmark boyfriend Wes Brown is in a few episodes in season one which is always a plus.

And then there is The Bachelor. I basically watch this show for comic relief but seriously, this guy Zach is a total piece of work. Congratulations to the happy couple as she can now lively "happily ever after" with a guy who makes some of the worst decisions I have ever seen basically only taking his own feelings into account. They may also be the most basic couple in Bachelor history and that is saying a lot. Have fun putting together the Ikea you two!

What I'm Listening To

Lately I am listening to a lot of Luke Bryan because some months you just need a little Luke Bryan.

I am listening to all of my regular podcasts such as the Murdaugh Murders podcast, Rose Pricks, Bitch Sesh (Danielle Schneider is so funny), and then discovered a new Bachelor podcast called Game of Roses.

What I'm Wearing

Besties, I am mostly shopping in my closet these days. With the change of seasons, I am trying to reimagine outfits that work with the chilly mornings and hopefully warmer afternoons.

What I'm Doing This Weekend

Hockey Guy is going to be at a leadership retreat this weekend, so Running Daddy and I will most likely go out to dinner on Friday night. The rest of the weekend will really depend on how I am feeling.

I may need to get a little creative about what time we go to Palm Sunday Mass due to our schedule. Hockey Guy will go with his retreat and I may have to catch one on Sunday evening.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

April is going to be such a big fun month. It's my birthday month and it's my mom's birthday month. I am really looking forward to Easter and putting my focus there on Holy Week.

We have a few road trips coming up that are part of a new season of life that is an adventure and we will be following the path that God guides us towards.

I am helping out with the end of season hockey banquet and there is so much to celebrate with this team.

I am supposed to have jury duty...yup. Most importantly I have a date for the rescheduling of my surgery that was canceled due to my infection last week. Hopefully, I can get this done in April and at the very least get some answers.

What Else is New

I think I have covered all things March. See you back here tomorrow for Monthly Musings for Holly and me. This month we are talking Spring Essential Fashion Pieces.

See you tomorrow!

  2. Your Spring Break sounds fun and enjoy celebrating Hockey Guy at the banquet. And I'm so glad you have a new surgery date. I am praying that all your previous tests still "count" and you don't have to redo them.
