Monthly Musings January 2023: Beating the WInter Blues

Besties, Holly and I have really Good topic for Monthly Musings for January. This month it is all about beating the winter blues. It's a real thing. Depending on where you live, winter can be long, dark and cold leading to the winter blues. Today we are joined by a group of talented writers who are also sharing their tips to beat the winter blues. Be sure to check out the writers who link up with us too.

Tip to those that link up with us, try to visit at least two other sites on this link-up and be sure to comment too. Holly and I really strive to help support the community that joins us each month.

On to the blues fighting tips!

1. Something you do for yourself to beat the winter blues?

In the winter especially, when I get home you will find me lighting some candles. I will typically light a candle that has a fragrance on the breakfast bar and then also turn on the battery-operated candles in the living room while I make dinner.

I sometimes need either quiet while I make dinner or some chill music. I also try to put the fireplace on too!

What's Up Wednesday: January 2023

January has felt long and quick all at the same time. Does that make any sense? As this is the last Wednesday of the month I am linking up with Shay and Shaeffer  for What's Up Wednesday to share all of January 2023. I have definitely been easing into this new year and I think it is serving me well. Settle in and find out how our January has been going.

What We Are Eating This Week

This is going to be a busy week. We have some hockey, we have some meetings at school and I have some work events. That is not leaving a lot of time for dinner at home.

I have been working really hard over the last couple of weeks to make food over the weekend to prep for the week ahead and have Good but quick food to make in the house.

Friday Favorites: January 20, 2023-She Said, The Way Home, a Good Red Wine, True Crime Podcast and an Easy Dinner Helper

Hey Besties, I hope you had short week this week with the holiday. Things are really buzzing around here with sports and work in full swing. I was home alone with our sweet dog Stormy last weekend as he recovered from K9 flu/kennel cough and got a ton of things done in the house while the guys were at a hockey tournament in Rhode Island. I bundled up, waited for text updates of scores, cleaned out the clutter, hung pictures, had some friends over and watched way too much tv. Some of this hunkering down is turning into my Friday Favorites this week.

This week as I link up with Erika and Andrea, I have two things for you to watch, a podcast I found that you will like if you are a true crime fan, a dinner shortcut for busy nights and a wine you can find at Trader Joe's to accompany any or all of these Friday Favorites. Snuggle up and enjoy Friday Favorites.

1. She Said

She Said is the story of the New York Times reporters that broke the Harvey Weinstein story. It is streaming exclusively on Peacock and was way Better than I thought it was going to be. I watched it more out of curiosity but became fascinated at how the whole story unfolded. It was not preachy as I feared it could be, it was a really Good tale of how true journalists can bring a story forward and change things for the Better

Friday Favorites January 13: Emily in Paris , Good Eye Cream, Chili Mix, RHUGT Cast, and Best Face Powder

Happy Friday Besties. I know we just wrapped up the holidays but I am already ready for a long weekend. I was supposed to be up in New England this weekend with the boys for a hockey tournament, but sweet Stormy is recuperating from a bad case of kennel cough/K9 flu so we are hanging at home this weekend. That means cuddles with Stormy, some home organization, time with friends and waiting for game updates via text.

Today I have a quick list of simple Joys for you for Friday Favorites while I link up with Erika and Andrea. I hope you enjoy them and this winter weekend.

1. Emily in Paris (season 3)

Besties, I really tried to watch Yellowstone. I know this going to be an unpopular opinion, but I got through about the first maybe four episodes of season 1 and it is just not for me. I mean I like looking at older Kevin Costner in a cowboy hat as much as the next gal, and I liked the political intrigue and side deals, but does someone need to get killed every episode? There was also not a single character on this show I really liked. Therefore, I decided to jump right into season 3 of Emily in Paris
