Monthly Musings March 2023: Essential Spring Fashion Pieces

Aaaah spring! I don't know about where you live Besties, but spring may be settling in right here. The cherry blossoms are out and so are all of the tourists. I have plenty of time to look at them while I sit in horrible traffic. Sigh.

Since we are embracing spring, Holly and I wanted to talk about Essential Spring Fashion Pieces as our topic for our monthly linkup party Monthly Musings today. We are blessed to have a group of talented writers join us every month for this linky party. When you are finished reading this post, make sure you stop by some of the other sites too.

Ok, let's get to the fun fashion questions. Note, I will be shopping in my closet a lot lately.

1. How do you transition your wardrobe?

In March I start to slowly transition my wardrobe. March can start out downright freezing here and then it can get beautiful and warm by the end of the month. Plus I still need warm layers and Uggs for hockey and outdoor lacrosse at the beginning of the month.

Mid-month, I also start to get a little tired of dark colors, so when I can I start to put away the greys and the heavier fabrics (keeping a few in reserve if needed) and start pulling out my pops of colors that I can pair with a jacket or other layer.

What's Up Wednesday-March 2023

Happy Wednesday Besties. First and foremost I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to send me some kindness based on Friday's post. I really just wanted to document what happened and try to put out to possibly help others struggling with similar health challenges, but lo and behold, you all showered me with such love and support. I really didn't post for attention, I was trying to document and provide future information for others. Everyone has been so kind. The Good Better Best community really is the Best

Oh March, you were so very March. You took me to one of the Best nights of our lives and then put such challenges in front of me healthwise...again. In the middle there was some fun, some food and some binge-watching. Join me as I link up with Shay and Shaeffer and take you along on the wild ride that was March 2023.

What We're Eating This Week

I have a house full of food and no meal plan for this week. We also have away games and nights out. I am giving myself a lot of grace and not pushing myself as I still work to get Better. Some weeks we all need this.

Life Lately: Hey There Champions and Well, That Wasn't Supposed to Happen

Hey Besties. Happy Friday. I know that I have been a little MIA lately and usually on Fridays I link up with Erika and Andrea for Friday Favorites, but today I am going to do a little life update. I always find March challenging and while the month started with one of the most fun nights of my life, it also threw me quite a curveball this week. Settle in, grab your favorite beverage and get ready for a little roller coaster of my Life Lately.

Let's start with the Good stuff. A few weeks ago Hockey Guy's team became the state champions. They won four straight games against some very tough teams and won the championship game in overtime. They went into the series as the #10 seed and ended up playing the #11 seed in the final game.

What's Up Wednesday February 2023: On a Friday

Oh Besties, I have a lot on my mind these last few weeks and got my weeks messed up with February being such a short month. I thought next week was the last Wednesday of the month, but alas, it is not. So I am sharing What's Up Wednesday and linking up withShay and Shaeffer  today aka Friday. We can also think of this as a Friday Favorites with Erika and Andrea, because there are a lot of my favorites from this month in here too!

Let's chat about all things February before my computer completely goes haywire or I lose track of the weeks again.

What We're Eating This Week

We are in the phase of the year when hockey is finishing up and then lacrosse is ramping up at the same time. It makes things a little confusing and hectic especially when it comes to dinner. This is one of those weeks where we did the Best we could and everyone was fed.

Monthly Musings February 2023: Warm Weather Destinations/Winter Travel Tips

It's Thursday Besties, we have almost made it through the week. I am going to start this post by apologizing for my graphic above. I always whip up a graphic for Holly and I to use for Monthly Musings. My computer is in a really bad way. So bad that I am just going to get a new one this weekend. Therefore the typos etc. in the graphic are totally on me.

I don't typically travel to warm weather destinations in the winter because we are a travel hockey family so all of our long weekends in the winter are focused on traveling to the next hockey rink, unless that rink happens to be in Florida which did happen in November. I will try to share my Best tips for you. Let's do this wonky computer and all.

1. Favorite Warm Weather Destinations

We spend our summer time vacation in Hilton Head Island, SC. It is our favorite place period. I also love the Bahamas.

Monthly Musings Topics February 2023-Warm Weather Destinations/Winter Travel Tips

Happy Monday Besties! I hope you have today off, I alas do not. I am up early and linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday and to share the topics and questions for Monthly Musings coming up on Thursday. February is a short month, so Monthly Musings kind of snuck up on us.

For February we are focusing on warm-weather travel. We hope you will join us as a writer, reader or both!

I will admit, that this is not my Best graphic work and there is indeed a typo in one of the questions that I cannot fix. My computer is on it's last legs and I decided that this had to be Good enough for this month as my cursor was driving me batty! I don't think any of you come here for my graphic arts skills anyway.

See you back here on Thursday!

Best Taco Chili

The Super Bowl is this weekend. Are you ready Besties? Oh how I long for the days of the Tom Brady invitational football game so this year I am all about the food.

If you haven't decided what you are having during the Super Bowl,  you are going to want to try my Taco Chili. If you can brown some ground meat and onion and open cans, you can make this chili. It's super easy, totally unexpected and so Good. I have made this twice in the last two weeks and Running Daddy is a big fan. We have been enjoying this over the last few weeks as our schedule has been really crazy. Bust out your crockpot and make some Taco Chili for the big game. Eagles or Chiefs? Leave me your answer in the comments. I am just anxiously awaiting the Dunkin commercial with Ben Affleck. Anyone else?

Friday Favorites: The Bachelor, Home Remedy, Sweetest Coffee Shop and Seasonal Coffee

Friday, I am so happy to see you I could hug you. This week was just a lot. It felt long and at times weird. I was up in Baltimore for a doctor's appointment and while I got the answers and solutions I prayed for, that doesn't mean I have to like them. I am going to do what they suggest, but I am a little sad about it. This week I was also reminded that chauvinism is still alive. I don't want to talk too much about it, but this was not one passing comment that I may have misinterpreted, it was a full-on conversation that was straight out of the 1950's. The energy of this week was just a little weird, and I am so happy to be at the weekend.

Now I can take a breath, and link up with Erika and Andrea, for Friday Favorites and share with you an old favorite show that that is giving us stress release in our house, an old-fashioned home remedy I just discovered, the sweetest coffee shop you need to find in your community and a seasonal coffee treat. Embrace the weekend and join me for Friday Favorites.

1. The Bachelor

The day of The Bachelor premiere, Hockey Guy had a day where he worked really hard and just needed to chill out so I suggested that we watched the premier of The Bachelor. It was just what we needed. We were laughing, commenting and cringing. I had taken a break from the show for a season or two but this premier brought me back to why I love this show.

Monthly Musings January 2023: Beating the WInter Blues

Besties, Holly and I have really Good topic for Monthly Musings for January. This month it is all about beating the winter blues. It's a real thing. Depending on where you live, winter can be long, dark and cold leading to the winter blues. Today we are joined by a group of talented writers who are also sharing their tips to beat the winter blues. Be sure to check out the writers who link up with us too.

Tip to those that link up with us, try to visit at least two other sites on this link-up and be sure to comment too. Holly and I really strive to help support the community that joins us each month.

On to the blues fighting tips!

1. Something you do for yourself to beat the winter blues?

In the winter especially, when I get home you will find me lighting some candles. I will typically light a candle that has a fragrance on the breakfast bar and then also turn on the battery-operated candles in the living room while I make dinner.

I sometimes need either quiet while I make dinner or some chill music. I also try to put the fireplace on too!

I have definitely been easing into this new year and I think it is serving me well. Settle in and find out how our January has been going.

What We Are Eating This Week

This is going to be a busy week. We have some hockey, we have some meetings at school and I have some work events. That is not leaving a lot of time for dinner at home.

I have been working really hard over the last couple of weeks to make food over the weekend to prep for the week ahead and have Good but quick food to make in the house.

Friday Favorites: January 20, 2023-She Said, The Way Home, a Good Red Wine, True Crime Podcast and an Easy Dinner Helper

Hey Besties, I hope you had short week this week with the holiday. Things are really buzzing around here with sports and work in full swing. I was home alone with our sweet dog Stormy last weekend as he recovered from K9 flu/kennel cough and got a ton of things done in the house while the guys were at a hockey tournament in Rhode Island. I bundled up, waited for text updates of scores, cleaned out the clutter, hung pictures, had some friends over and watched way too much tv. Some of this hunkering down is turning into my Friday Favorites this week.

This week as I link up with Erika and Andrea, I have two things for you to watch, a podcast I found that you will like if you are a true crime fan, a dinner shortcut for busy nights and a wine you can find at Trader Joe's to accompany any or all of these Friday Favorites. Snuggle up and enjoy Friday Favorites.

1. She Said

She Said is the story of the New York Times reporters that broke the Harvey Weinstein story. It is streaming exclusively on Peacock and was way Better than I thought it was going to be. I watched it more out of curiosity but became fascinated at how the whole story unfolded. It was not preachy as I feared it could be, it was a really Good tale of how true journalists can bring a story forward and change things for the Better

Friday Favorites January 13: Emily in Paris , Good Eye Cream, Chili Mix, RHUGT Cast, and Best Face Powder

Happy Friday Besties. I know we just wrapped up the holidays but I am already ready for a long weekend. I was supposed to be up in New England this weekend with the boys for a hockey tournament, but sweet Stormy is recuperating from a bad case of kennel cough/K9 flu so we are hanging at home this weekend. That means cuddles with Stormy, some home organization, time with friends and waiting for game updates via text.

Today I have a quick list of simple Joys for you for Friday Favorites while I link up with Erika and Andrea. I hope you enjoy them and this winter weekend.

1. Emily in Paris (season 3)

Besties, I really tried to watch Yellowstone. I know this going to be an unpopular opinion, but I got through about the first maybe four episodes of season 1 and it is just not for me. I mean I like looking at older Kevin Costner in a cowboy hat as much as the next gal, and I liked the political intrigue and side deals, but does someone need to get killed every episode? There was also not a single character on this show I really liked. Therefore, I decided to jump right into season 3 of Emily in Paris

Friday Favorites: Your Favorite Posts of 2022

Well Besties, I expected this first week of January to be rather busy due to finalizing some numbers for finance and Swearing-in Ceremonies, and yet there were no Swearing-In Ceremonies. This week has been pretty exhausting and I am hoping there is some type of resolution soon. I am so ready for a weekend of friends, hockey plus a little food and wine.

Today's Friday Favorites were chosen by all of you Besties. Today, as I link up with Erika and Andrea, I am sharing your favorite posts of 2022. I always love doing this post and it is so interesting to see what you love on this space.

Are you ready? I am so ready to talk about all the fun things after this week!

#5 September Monthly Musings Fall Decor and Halloween

One thing I know about you Besties, is that you love all things fall. My monthly linkup post with Holly in September was my reentry from COVID and had all the fall feels that you loved so much to put in the #5 most popular post of 2022.
