Hello Monday-Wedding Anniversary Weekend

Happy Monday Besties! Stopping in for Hello Monday with Holly and Sarah. The last few weekends have been so Good as they have felt like real weekends. We are all working really hard and it has been great to get back to having a little fun, plus rest and relaxation on the weekend.

This weekend was also our 17th anniversary. Since it's been several years since we had been able to have a real anniversary celebration due to the pandemic and then last year we were cleaning out my parents' house in Boston to get ready to sell, we finally had a real celebration this year. More on that in a bit.

Friday night we were trying to figure out if we were going to go to the pool or just hang out. It was a beautiful night but we just couldn't rally so we decided to hang out on the patio and eat our favorite Mexican takeout. It was a Good decision and just the way to kick off the weekend. We have been working really hard on our yard and it was nice to sit and enjoy it.

Saturday morning I got up early to get gas at Costco, which totally saved me a bunch of money. I then popped over to Walmart as I bought some flowers in their garden center a few weeks ago and they have been great. I bought some additional hanging baskets, some lavender as ground cover and additional plants for the planter boxes. Because it was raining, the planting would have to wait until Sunday.

One of the things that always says a summer weekend morning is my gluten free chocolate chip zucchini muffins. In the summer, I try to make them almost every weekend because they are so Good. They are Hockey Guy's favorite and that means that there are hardly any left!

On Saturday night, Running Daddy and I tried a restaurant that so many people have been raving about. It is kind of off that beaten path in Old Town and it's on the fourth floor of an office building. It has a really Good view of the Potomac River due to a wrap-around patio and wonderful food. We definitely indulged at dinner a bit and enjoyed the view.

After dinner we stopped at the local custard shack for dessert. It felt like a fun summer date night. After the last couple of years, it was so nice to have a somewhat normal anniversary date.

Sunday morning ushered in a bit of rain and then it cleared up late morning. We all got into the home improvement act once the weather cleared up. Hockey Guy is working hard power washing the driveway. Running Daddy worked out back keeping the weeds at bay. I put in the new plantings, pulled weeds and deadheaded some of the other plants. I think we all worked outside for about four hours.

Below are some of my plantings this year. The yard is really starting to look Good. We have a few more areas to do and Hockey Guy is working hard on the power washing, and then things are going to be the way we want them to be in our yard, finally.

We closed down the weekend with grilled steak tips from Butcher Box, steamed organic green beans and potatoes gratin. If you want to try Butcher Box you can get $30 off your first box with this code: http://rwrd.io/phnjk0h?c

Sunday night, I settled in to write this post while I watched Color My World With Love on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. This movie is groundbreaking as it is the first Hallmark movie that surrounds characters with developmental disabilities. As I write this post I am about 15 minutes in, it is so sweet and I think does a Good job telling the stories of young adults with disabilities. We need more of this type of storytelling, especially right now.

This was a Good weekend. I have a lot on my plate lately and I am probably more stressed than is Good for me. I am really trying to make our summer weekends a priority and spend time doing things that I love. Those things that I love include being with my boys, spending time with people who lift me up, quiet time with Jesus, cooking, gardening and creating in Good Better Best

What means a weekend to you? Please share in the comments below.

See you soon Besties!
