June 2021 Monthly Musings--End of School and Summer Plans

Hey, there Besties! I have taken a little step back over the last month to deal with some family things. Everyone is ok in the Good Better Best household but I have been helping with some things to settle my dad's estate and help my mom. Today I taking a breath and linking up with Holly for Monthly Musings. This month we are linking up with other great writers to talk end of school and summer plans. Join me today for Monthly Musings.

1. Any Last Day of School Plans?

Hockey Guy is in high school so the end of school looks different. Instead of field days and class picnics we were very focused on exam schedules and pick up times. He got out just after Memorial Day and we celebrated with his choice of take out options.

2. Do You Make a Summer List? What is Everyone Looking Forward to Most This Summer?

I actually don't make a summer list. I know moms that do and I think it is really cool but we are kind of past this stage in life. We are definitely looking forward to going back to Hilton Head Island in August. We are also going to a Premier Lacrosse League this coming weekend in Baltimore and the finals in September here in Washington, DC.

Most of all, I am looking forward to normalcy this summer. Time with friends, Hockey Guy having guests at the pool and just being around people I enjoy. That is my bucket list.

3. Any Vacation Plans?

We are headed back to Hilton Head Island. We love it so much. We are still staying in Sea Pines but have a different house this year. I literally have a count down on my calendar until we go.

4. Favorite Summer Outfits? What Do You Live In in the Summer?

I live in little dresses that I can just throw on and I love my Jack Rogers sandals. Last year I bought similar Jack Rogers cork sandals similar to the ones below. They are so comfortable but they are also really cute.

5. Favorite Summer Meal

Right now we are loving grilled swordfish and shrimp.  I also can't wait to get to South Carolina and have low country cuisine.

6. Do You End School in May or June?  How About When You Were Growing Up?

Since Hockey Guy is high school now, we don't have a traditional last day of school, he more has a last day of exams. He ended right after Memorial Day with the way his exam schedule played out.

When I was little, because I grew up in New England I always got out of school in June. One year, I think it was 6th grade, we had so many snow days we got out of school June 28th. That's pretty darn late.

7. Bikini? Tankini? One Piece?

I am not very tall, I am only 5 ft. 5 inches, but I have a long torso so bathing suits can be tough for me. I stick with a tankini because they just fit me Better

I grabbed this combo this spring from Calia by Carrie Underwood. It is great for swimming and looks cute too.

8. What are Your Fourth of July Plans?

Not sure what are true plans are yet but it will probably involve going to the pool and seeing friends.

9. Do You Dress in Red, White and Blue on the Fourth of July?

I don't go too crazy but I do like to dress in a touch of the red, white and blue.

10. Charcoal or Gas Grill?

We are all about the gas grill. Confession...I have never used our outdoor grill. I mean I have never even turned it on. I leave the actual grilling to Running Daddy.

  3. Yeah we have had some really late last days of school with snow days; in fact about 15 years ago all the local schools did away with February vacation to try and offset all the snow days we had been having. That bathing suit is so cute! I hope you have a wonderful vacation.

    1. Thank you. We had some snowy winters where they canceled the President's Day day off but never a whole vacation. Have the Best weekend.
