What's Up Wednesday--April 2021

Happy Wednesday Besties. April was kind of a lot around here. Taking a breath and linking up with Shay and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday.

What We're Eating This Week

Sunday-Grilled swordfish and shrimp, steamed green beans and rolls.

Monday-Baked chicken tacos, salad.

Tuesday-Running Daddy will be swimming doing triathlon training so Hockey Guy and I will probably have leftovers from the baked chicken tacos if there is any left or something easy like burger and dog night.

Wednesday-Sausage, polenta, broccoli.

Thursday-Running Daddy is swimming again, so something easy like tortellini and salad.

Friday-Take out

What I'm Reminiscing About

This month I am thinking about a lot of Easter breaks in the past. This year was another Easter break that looked a lot different than I had hoped but hopefully next year we can plan a really Good trip.

What I'm Loving

Honestly, I am so loving our air fryer. Last week's Friday Favorites basically included a love letter to our air fryer. There was a little trial and error on models but we settled into the Cuisinart one and never looked back.

I am also totally loving the Artichoke Antipasto from Trader Joe's. It's so Good on grilled chicken and just a little bit packs a punch of flavor.

I think this is always going to be on my Trader Joe's list.

What We've Been Up To

If you didn't know Besties, April was a tough month around here. My dad passed away the very end of March so we have really been processing that. My dad lived a very rich, full and blessed life into his late 80's and I was so blessed to have him for so long.

Easter was also my birthday and it was a nice quiet day. Running Daddy took me out to the local winery that we are members of the day before Easter for just some quiet time and a little birthday treat.

There has also been a little spring hockey which has been a nice reprieve from what has been going on and they are currently undefeated. Because I am now vaccinated and it has been really fun to see Hockey Guy skate in person again.

This week I will also get another blood test for the research study that I am in testing the effects of the vaccines on people with chronic illnesses. Looking forward to hopefully hearing that I have the antibodies after dose two. Cross your fingers for me.

What I'm Dreading

I am trying really hard not to dread anything, even on the days when 2021 feels like 2020 without the toilet paper shortages.

What I'm Working On

We are working really hard on our yard. It's really starting to get there and I think we have more spots in the yard that look Good vs. the one that need work. I out some solar lights in that I am loving and my spring flowers are really starting to pop. I need to work on getting in some summer blooms.

I am also working on some work for my day job and prepping for some big projects. Step by step, it will all get done, or that is what I am telling myself.

What I'm Excited About

Honestly, I am excited about Running Daddy being vaccinated in May and then hopefully Hockey Guy too when it is approved for his age group. More and more of my friends are vaccinated and it has been nice to spend some outdoor time with them.

I am excited about hugging people again. I am a hugger and it is one of the hardest parts of the pandemic for me. Warning to my other hugger friends get ready for hugs, they are going to be long and I am here for it.  This photo was of unexpected Joy getting a hug from one of my favorites in Home Depot earlier this month.

I am also excited about my return to Barre 3. I went back last weekend after 14 months to the day. I was welcomed back with a "Welcome back Patty, you are going to rock it." I so love Barre 3 and the outdoor classes are amazing. I am so grateful to be back.

What I'm Watching/Reading

For reading I am mostly reading my Better Hones and Gardens and Southern Living Magazines. Not a ton of reading time around here lately.

For watching, Running Daddy and I are deep into The Crown. I minored in British history in college and I always say that about every 2-3 years this comes in handy, usually for cocktail party chit chat. With the big Oprah interview and Prince Phillip passing away, it has come in very handy lately!

How did I not find Sweet Magnolias until now? This show is just delightful and I cannot wait until season 2. Even Running Daddy got a little into it when he just happened to be in the room when I was watching it. I so love the kids in this show too. This show is like a warm hug, and I so need those right now. "Pour it out!"

All three of us have been obsessed with Operation Varsity Blues-The College Admission Scandal on Netflix. This is so well done and it is just still mind blowing that this happened.

New Jersey Housewives has been so Good this season. We totally stopped watching it for a bit and then I think the cast is perfection right now. Margaret and Dolores are my two faves. Do you have favorites on this cast? Are you still watching?

What I'm Listening To

I have been listening to Annie F. Downs' podcast That Sounds Fun quite a bit lately. I really need that positivity on a regular basis and she is a Good interviewer. Her recent interview with Harry Connick Jr. is just delightful. I thought I couldn't love him more, but totally did after this interview. Who knew he was such a man of faith? It's totally attractive when men love Jesus in my book!

I am also listening to One of the Good Ones by Gabby Barrett. This song speaks to me, maybe because I finally got one of the Good ones in Running Daddy.

What I'm Wearing

Mostly I have been focusing on my accessories over the last month. Nothing exciting in the clothing department.

For shoes I am loving these olive camo loafers that Running Daddy got me for Christmas. Rothy's are my favorite shoes.

If you have not tried them you really should. The Best part is that they are washable! If you are thinking about trying Rothy's you can save $20 with my code. I always size up, just as info.

I am also wearing these huggies in silver on repeat. The are reversible too...what could be Better than that? Smooth on one side and faux diamond on the other. They also come in gold. These are so giftable!

This camera bag is my every day bag right now. I have it in navy and it also comes in black. Don't let the size fool you, this baby holds a lot! The Best part, you get to chose your strap!

These are ways that I am punching up my open cardigans and jeans lately. That has been my standard uniform.

What I'm Doing This Weekend

Honestly, I am not sure what I am doing this weekend. I think the weather is supposed to be Good, so I am hoping for some outside time and maybe some grilling. I am on the waiting list for some more outdoor Barre3 classes and looking forward to more of those.

What I am Looking Forward to Next Month

I am looking forward to Running Daddy's birthday and he will be fully vaccinated next month too. Hopefully we can have some type of celebration for him.

We will also have some more spring hockey and I am looking forward to attending more games. Running Daddy has been doing a really Good job with Facebook live for the games.

We also hopefully have some Memorial Day plans, cross your fingers it happens.

What Else is New

I think I covered it all. I am really looking forward to May.

Be sure to join Holly and me tomorrow for Monthly Musings. his monthly we will be talking about spring cleaning and sharing tips and tricks. Feel free to answer our fun questions and link up with us. Here are the questions:
