Friday Favorites and a Life Update: Best Body Scrub, NJ Housewives, That Sounds Fun, Emily in Paris, Smooth Lip Colors

Happy Friday Besties. I have been a little MIA lately. I have had some things going on and I would rather wait and put up a really Good post when I was ready, than just phone it in. Phoning it in is not my style.

First, I have been having shoulder problems since May. I know, I know. I did some physical therapy this summer and it kind of helped. Basically I have been waiting for COVID to end or for my shoulder to get Better. Since neither of those things have happened yet, I went to the Best shoulder doctor in the area. The verdict? I have an off the charts frozen shoulder and had a set of cortisone shots two weeks ago. It's feeling Better and I am so thankful for kind, smart medical professionals.

I also received my first COVID-19 vaccine two weeks ago, but had to go off my major Lupus med for a couple of weeks before and after the vaccinations. Not being able to do this injection every week has really impacted my health and my life. I am planning to do a post on my vaccination experience hopefully next week so stay tuned.

Now that I got that little update out of the way I am looking forward to chilling this weekend. It is supposed to be pretty nice this weekend so I am hoping to get a few things done in the house and maybe even outside. Today I am linking up with ErikaAndreaNarci to share the things that brought me simple Joy this week.

1) Polish Body Scrub

This Polish Lemon Sugar Body Scrub from Ever is perfect for getting your skin spring ready. Perfect for the soles of your feet,  getting ready for shaving your legs and self tanner prep. ***Contains affiliate link.

Polish is also a really Good gift. Mother's Day is just around the corner and this is a lovely option for your mom, grandma and friends.

2) Real Housewives of New Jersey

A few years ago, Running Daddy and I kinda stopped watching NJ Housewives. We got back into it last season and this season is so Good. Honestly, I think they could dump Teresa at this point. Some of the other ladies have come into their own and I think she is not needed any more. Am I wrong?

Running Daddy has a little reality TV crush on Jackie.  For the record, she would eat him alive and I tell him that all the time. Also for the record, he agrees.

3) That Sounds Fun

I hadn't listened to That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs in a while and got back into this podcast this month. She is just the lift I have needed.

Recent episodes that I have loved are the ones with Kathie Lee Gifford, whom I have mentioned several times that I have done a complete turnaround on, Nikki DeLoach a Hallmark fave, and Natalie Grant.

Annie mixes fun girlfriend, pop culture and Jesus talking in a really Good way. Check her out if you have not already.

4) Emily in Paris

I am late to the party on Emily in Paris, but I am so here for it. It is so Good and totally lives up to the hype. I love the scenery, I love the clothing and it makes me laugh out loud.

I also found it a little more PG-13 than I thought it would be, in a Good way compared to its big sister Sex and the City.  This is probably not appropriate for those younger than high school but it was a little more tame than I thought it might be.

I will also take any other Netflix or Prime recommendations in the comments below. I get overwhelmed by too many choices and there are just endless things to watch. All of us in the Good Better Best household are pumped about the documentary on Operation Varsity Blues that dropped this week.

5) Smooth Lip Colors

These beautiful Smooth Colors launched last week. Even in a mask wearing pandemic I am a lipstick girl so I was so happy when these launched. The colors are so universal. They go on sheer and ahave a hint of a vanilla scent. To start I chose the Honey and Rose and also already own the clear. They are a Good addition to my make up bag even if I just have it on in my house or for a work Zoom.

Here is the Rose' on me:

These Smooth lip colors are a Good way to dip a toe into clean beauty or to set a teen girl up for healthy beauty for life.

Air fryer advice

One last thing before I go for the weekend. I need your Best air fryer recipes or way to use one in the comments. After two friends telling me in a matter of hours that I needed one and my sweet sister in law sending me her air fryer food photos, I purchased one online this week and it should be here in days.

I was hesitant to purchase one because I didn't realize that they come in different sizes. I wondered if it was a cooking fad. I was a total hard pass on Instantpot craze and remain not interested. Apologies to my Instantpot fan readers.

My air fryer should be here soon so please leave me your Best recipes and tips for your air fryer.

Have the Best weekend!

  1. Hang in there friend- so glad you are getting vaccinated and hope you feel better soon! Can't wait to read your updates. Also soooo glad you ordered an air fryer...you must try cooking chicken in it. Take chicken breasts....dip in a beaten egg and panko bread crumbs and then cook at 400 degrees for 10 minutes- they are perfect- crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside and very flavorful- my entire family loves them and they are so quick and easy! :)

    1. Thank you Holly! This is exactly what I am looking for. I think we could do this with pork chops too? Thanks for including the temperature and time.

  2. Daphne Oz, on her Instagram did an awesome salmon in the air fryer. I've also done chicken parmagiana in it as well.(like the above, just added parm. cheese with panko. It turned out excellent. We do green beans, sweet potato chunks, and even hard boiled eggs.
