Whew it is so cold here.  Not chilly, down right cold! Are you having a cold snap where you live? On this frigid Friday  I am linking up with ErikaAndreaNarci to share what is bringing me Joy this week. So pour yourself a warm seasonal beverage and let's settle in for Friday Favorites.

1) Good Coats

My mom always told me to put a little money into coats. I typically do and then because I buy Better coats, they really hold up.

After Christmas last year, I bought the Vail Parka  at J Crew as more of a work/formal coat. It was a really Good deal after Christmas and totally different from what I had bought in the past.

When I used to have to travel to Minneapolis a lot for work, I purchased a long down coat from Land's End and had a parka, but that one was not warm enough. Since the Land's End one is over ten years old but still going and the shorter one is over six years old, I decided to splurge when I saw a Good deal on this Helly Hansen parka. I saw it when I was in Nordstrom Rack and then decided to buy it a few days later. I almost bought this coat but I figured the Helly would be warmer.

The one I chose is sort of a grey/olive color and I have basically warn it every day for the last week.  Every time I wear it I get a compliment, which says a lot for a parka! The Best part is that it is so warm. Perfect for this hockey mom and when I take it off, I can feel the warmth inside. If you are looking for a Good parka this season I highly recommend this Helly Hansen.  Totally worth the money.

2) A Whole Lot of Bobbi Brown

Recently Bobbi Brown had 25% off everything, so I decided to stock up on some cool weather colors. Some of these are old favorites and some one colors that I wanted to discover.
I grabbed the Longwearing Cream Shadow Stick in Bark. I am a big fan of these shadow sticks and it is pretty much all I wear during the work week. This one looks a little dark but it you use it sparingly or as an accent it looks really Good.

The Shimmer Lip gloss in Kir Shimmer is like an old friend. I always feel so Good when I wear it and it stays on really well even without a lip liner.

The Glossy Lip Duo in Nude also has two old stand bys in the lip department Bellini and Buff. They are so Good to layer over a lipstick. I needed to restock these two.

I also received some free gifts that I just love!

A mini Longwearing Cream Shadow stick in Golden Pink

A mini Luxe Lipstick in Neutral Rose which is just beautiful.

I styled both the Bark Shadow Stick with the Kir Shimmer yesterday for work.

3) Neutrogena Skin Brightener

I needed a new night cream but didn't want to spend a fortune so I decided to give the Neutrogena Bright Boost a try. I definitely think my skin is looking Better using this cream every night. It is light and really does give my skin a Good glow. The Best part is that you also get a lot of product at a reasonable price point.

4) Woolrich Heated Mattress Pad

Have I mentioned that it is unseasonably cold? I had Running Daddy get our sherpa heated mattress pad out. I love to turn it on about an hour before bed and then turn it down to just warm as I sleep.

5) Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal

I am working hard on cleaning up my eating game as we head into the holiday season. This week I made oatmeal with cashew milk and then added honey, slivered almonds and pumpkin pie seasoning. It was really Good and totally kept me full until lunch.

That's what I have for you this week! I am going to work on some Thanksgiving prep posts for next week. If there is anything you want to see in a Thanksgiving prep post or have a question, leave it for me in the comment section below.

Have a Good weekend Besties!

  4. It's cold here in Minnesota too, and we actually had snow on the ground for a few days already. I love your coat selections. Good coats are critical, especially when you are spending time in a hockey arena! I would love to see some ideas for transporting food at Thanksgiving. Any good recommendations for insulated carriers to keep hot food hot or cold food cold? How about packages for leftovers? Hope you're having a great weekend!
