What's Up Wednesday--November 2018

November has been a really Good month. It's the last Wednesday of the month, I am linking up with MelShaeffer, and Shay to talk about what I have been up to in November.

1) What We're Eating This Week

Sunday-grilled pork tenderloin, roasted potatoes and salad
Monday-grilled pork chops, brown rice and pesto zucchini noodles
Tuesday-baked chicken tacos, black beans, and broccoli
Wednesday-probably grilled cheese or ham and cheese wraps as it will be a busy night.
Thursday-either pesto pasta or pancakes, bacon and fruit
Friday-I have my wine swap so it will probably be boys pizza night

2) What I am Reminiscing About

Running Daddy and Hockey Guy have been doing a lot of races lately including the Turkey Trot five miler on Thanksgiving. I have been reminiscing about how Hockey Guy started running a little bit in November when he was just three. He started out just jumping in for a few blocks and for the last several years he has run the entire race. This year he PRed the Turkey Trot. The photo above was from when he was probably in first grade.

I am also thinking a lot about my own life lately. I have grown so much since this point last year and I am in such a Better place than I was this time two years ago. Life has twists and turns, but God really does have a plan and he always protects us from situations that are not really Good for us.

What I Am Loving

I don't know why, but I have been loving the November skies. I am not sure if they are just really beautiful this November or I have just been finally noticing them. Last night there was a big orange ball in the sky that almost looked like fire behind the Washington Monument as I was driving home.

In general, I never realized what a Good month November is. There is a certain stillness about it. It's a month filled with thankfulness and pumpkin spice. There are sales and shopping and hopefully days off. I am really loving November this year.

What We Have Been Up To

We started off the month with a whole lot of work for me with the elections and a board meeting. I was prepping for both at the same time but now finally have a little time to breathe and plan.

We are in the thick of hockey season and once again we have a really Good team. Good kids, Good parents and the Best coaches. Hockey Guy was able to play outside, under the lights a few weeks ago and we always love that.

What I Am Dreading

Honestly, I love Christmas and almost everything about it. I love picking out the perfect gift for people I love. What I dread...wrapping. I don't mind wrapping like the first three gifts and then I get really bored with it. I love the look of a beautifully wrapped gift, but don't love the process. I am dreading that part.

What I am Working On

I am working on planning for the next election cycle and a change in major processes at work. It will be a lot of work but it will make everything work Better

I am also working on not second guessing myself so much. I know I have experience, and I know I have smarts. I just need to remind myself that when I am tired or lapse into comparison mode.

What I Am Excited About

I am excited about the Christmas season. I love everything about it and we have some very fun things planned. I am excited about spending time with people I love and a fun Christmas break.

I am excited about picking the right gifts for people that mean a lot to me and my family.

What I Am Watching/Reading

My time has been pretty limited but I did renew my Southern Living subscription and I have been loving that. It has been really Good to chill and flip through especially the fall issues.

I have been watching a lot of Hallmark Channel lately. I can safely say that these are the Best Hallmark Christmas movies so far: Christmas Joy, A Veteran's Christmas, Shoe Addicts Christmas and Christmas at Graceland. The music in Christmas at Graceland is just the Best. I need to get caught up on Godwink Christmas as that is one that I really want to watch and it is in the DVR.

On the exact other end of the spectrum...I am loving Real Housewives of Dallas. Those gals went from the freshman team to varsity this season. These ladies and the ladies of New York and Beverly Hills are my favorites to watch now.

We are also watching Dirty John which premiered on Sunday night and the third season of Scientology and the Aftermath. Running Daddy and I are completely into The Clinton Affair. I lived it for work many years ago but we feel like there are so many details we didn't know at the time.

What I am Listening To

'Tis the season so I am listening to wall to wall Christmas music. I love it.

What I Am Wearing

I bought this shirt as an election gift to myself. I figured if I bought it early in the season I could justify it by having about two months to wear it. I love it and it brings me great Joy. I am also wearing Mally Mulberry Maven lipstick. It is a Good bold lip. I think at times I wear colors that are too light and a bold lip has been fun lately.

For a Friday look, I pulled together these cords with moto sweater. I got this beautiful Land's End scarf last year at a blogger event and it is the perfect piece for this outfit.

I have been wearing this BP Curved Stitch Hem Cardigan on repeat. It's so Good with jeans and I love it with black pants. My Rothy's flats are still my go to flat shoes and I have them both now in black and grey. If you are interested in trying Rothy's you can use this coupon code and save $20 off your first pair. They make super cute gifts to give or keep!

What Are We Doing This Weekend?

Friday night I have the annual wine swap at Mrs. M's house. It is such a fun party she throws and the theme this year is Mary Poppins. While I typically hate to craft...I have a concept, I have the materials and I am going to get my bottle ready tonight. I will share my masterpiece in a later post.

We also have a lot of hockey this weekend. On Saturday Hockey Guy will be attending a practice with the Capitols...you know the team that won the Stanley Cup! They get to watch practice and then suit up and some of the Caps will stay on the ice and practice with Hockey Guy's team. There is also a game on Sunday.

What I am Looking Forward to Next Month?

All things Christmas and all of the Joy that it brings. We have some fun plans already and we will be taking a little trip right after the holiday. I am also looking forward to a little down time and taking a few more days off.

What Else Is New?

I think I have covered it all! This has been such a Good month and potentially the Best November yet.
