What's Up Wednesday April 2018

The last Wednesday of the month came up quickly so that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday with MelShaeffer, and ShaySo much happened in April and I cannot wait to share.

What We're Eating This Week

Monday-Such a busy night, so I had a Costco chicken burger by AmyLu with tomato mozzarella. The boys had mac and cheese with some berries.

Tuesday-Smoked paprika chicken, noodles and sauteed squash.

Wednesday-Pan roasted salmon, roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli.

Thursday-Sausage, polenta, salad.

Friday-Pizza.

What I am Reminiscing About

Honestly, with the death of First Lady Barbara Bush, I am reminiscing about her and the early stages of my political career. I had the opportunity to do my first political event by myself with Mrs. Bush up in New Hampshire during the 1992 campaign and have had the honor to be around both her and President Bush 41 (and 43!) several times over my career. They are amazing people and one I hope people really understood their level of commitment to and love of this country. They really are the Best.

My New Job

I have been at my new job for about three weeks now and it is a really Good fit for me. I was blessed with a lot of opportunities over the last few months and even had a competing offer the day after I received the offer for the position I took. My advice when you are job hunting is: ask questions and really listen to the answers, read all the paperwork, and always listen to your gut--it's where God speaks the loudest.

What We Have Been Up to

We did a staycation for Easter break this year, although Running Daddy and Hockey Guy did hit up the New York Auto Show. We went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore and then also to Annapolis and toured the U. S. Naval Academy. It was a really Good week.

What I am Dreading

While I am super excited to be hosting a fund raiser for Hockey Guy's school next weekend, I am dreading picking up our house for the party as I have crazy standards when it comes to this stuff.

What I am Working On

Obviously I am working on a lot of things for my new job. There are a lot of Hows these days, but some of the Hows are leading me to ask Why. So glad the word Why is welcome in my new world.

I am also working on our new schedule and vibe for our house with the start of a new job and also the last quarter of the school year.

Next Friday night I am hosting our annual fund raiser with my friend for Hockey Guy's school. There is nothing Better than a ladies only champagne and cupcake party.

I am also working on spreading a little Joy to the moms at our local Ronald McDonald House this Mother's Day through my Keep Collective online party .

If you want to help spread some Joy to a mom at the Ronald McDonald House all you have to do is:

-Comment I'm In
-Choose Love, Friendship, Healing or Calming
-Provide me with an email address and I will send you a Paypal invoice for $20

I will buy the bracelet and then take all of them to the Ronald McDonald House and provide a personalized Mother's Day card with everyone's names on it. There are 33 moms at the Ronald McDonald House and we are half way to our goal. Who wants to take the next one and spread some Joy?

What I am Excited About

I am excited about some new family travel ideas we have for the balance of the year.

What I am Watching Reading

So much Bravo as usual. New York Housewives are finally here and those ladies are bringing it!

Speaking of Housewives, Running Daddy bought me Erika Jayne's book for my birthday and I have been reading that. I am thinking about a book review on that one...anyone think that is a Good post?

What I am Listening To

All my same podcasts and I am really loving Meant to Be by Bebe Rexha with Florida Georgia Line. Kinda hit home lately.

What I am Wearing

I so love these Loft pants that after my first pair arrived, I bought two more. They are the Best options to jeans for the weekend.

What I am Doing This Weekend

Working things around lacrosse this weekend. I also need to pick up for our party and start to get things ready to be set up. We are also hoping to see a local production of Jesus Christ Superstar with some friends.

What I am Looking Forward to Next Month

Running Daddy has a birthday next month so we are looking forward to celebrating him.

I also should have my first trip to my new corporate headquarters next month. That should be fun and I have not been to my new headquarters city in a very long time so I am interested to see how it has changed.

Mostly, I am looking forward to Better weather and our pool opening the end of May.

What Else is New

Well so much was new this month, but the biggest thing I have learned lately is that God's timeline isn't my timeline, God's plan isn't my plan and His plan is always Better.

That's what's up around here. What's new in your world?

  1. I love how you talked about how God's timeline isn't my timeline. That should be the statement of my April! Have a great day and be blessed!

  3. Hi, I'm stopping by from the link up. :) Congrats on your new job! Hooray for such a fun staycation week! You're so right on God's timeline and plans being so much better than our own. I praise God that I can rest in knowing that "for those who love God all things work together for good". (Romans 8:28) It's such a comfort and joy to know that He works all things together for the good of His own, and ultimately for His glory! Have a great second half to your week!
