Friday Favorites: Wine Festival, Cupcakes, Girlfriends and Jimmy Buffett

Today I am linking up with ErikaNarci , AndreaAmandaBright on a BudgetDella DevotedCup of Tea and By BMG for Friday favorites and sharing with you the things that I am finding Joy in this week.

1) Mount Vernon Wine Festival: Twice a year the Mount Vernon Estate, which is very close to our house, hosts a wine festival showcasing the Best Virginia wine. It's one of our favorite events and we try to go twice per year. Sometimes we go as a group but this time it was just Running Daddy and me. I told him as one of his birthday gifts to pick out a wine that he wanted to be the first wine he opened at our new bar after the renovation is finished.  He chose the Hiddencroft Winery Dutchman's Creek Blend which is a blend of Cab Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Tannat. Stay tuned as I will be doing a full review of the wine festival in the near future.

2) National Wine Day: Speaking of wine, yesterday was National Wine Day. Running Daddy stopped and picked up a little wine on the way home last night. I typically do not drink during the week unless I am out but since it was a Thursday aka Friday Eve, National Wine Day and we are heading into a long weekend, so I did enjoy a little wine last night.

This is what Running Daddy chose for us:

Since it was also Throw Back Thursday, here are a few Good wine reviews that I wrote a while back:

-Celebrating Democracy at the Embassy of New Zealand
-Review of Kendall Jackson Vintners Reserve Chardonnay
-Friday Five Budget Friendly White Wines

3) Cupcakes and Bubbles: For the last five years, my friend and I have hosted a sign up party for our school auction called Cupcakes and Bubbles. What Better way to spend a Friday night than with the moms at school drinking champagne and eating cupcakes. Typically we host the party at my house but since we are living in a construction zone  we had the party at Mrs. K's house this year. This little party has done a lot of Good for our school, we estimate we have raised over $5,000 since we started it.  The party sells out every year and I literally am friends with people now that I had never met until they walked into my house at this party. If you ever want to raise money, invite women over for cupcakes and champagne. It's the Best theme.

4) Jimmy Buffett and LAX: We had such a fun surprise on Saturday afternoon. Hockey Guy had a lacrosse game about an hour away that ended up being next door to one of the big outdoor concert venues in the area. As we got close the the field, it was clear that Jimmy Buffett was in town. As the boys warmed up on the field, we kept hearing music. Basically they were warming up to Jimmy Buffett's sound check as the stage was on the other side of the woods.  How Good is that?!

5) Surprise lunches with the Best ladies: This week several of us in my industry were supposed to have an informal lunch. A couple of my ladies and I were emailing and we decided since it was raining cats and dogs and the lunch was on the other side of town, this informal lunch was not sounding like the Best idea. Well, one of my ladies had a Better option, what if we just had lunch on our own? We had a Good time talking work, marketing ideas, Netflix, relationships and even shoes. I have some of the Best women in my life and that is pure Joy.
